My story

My interest in making candles started when a friend and I went "hobby shopping" at a craft fair in Roseville. I bought a candle-making kit online and quickly realized this is a stimulating hobby requiring equal parts creativity and science to pursue. After about a year of testing, I am certain this has become the most elaborate and expensive distraction for me to avoid doing yardwork, housework, and going to the gym. It should surprise no one reading this that my approach to making candles has been slow and methodical. I am feeling confident in the science behind my candles as I dive into the creative aspects of candle-making. I am constantly reminded that creativity and inspiration got me started in candle making and problem-solving, learning, and growing have kept me interested. I find joy in the process, even when things don’t go as planned. I am ready to sell my candles because I know the quality I have put into them gives a consistently pleasant candle burning experience worth sharing.

I will be pouring my candles in small batches to ensure that I can maintain the high quality. In order to keep my candles special I will be limiting the availability to local drop-offs, local pop-up shops and a few small local businesses. Shipping candles is tricky so I will do it as time allows and weather permits. If you have ideas about candles for special events let's collaborate to create a signature scent for a special occasion.

I expect my collections to change at least seasonally, so come back and see what I have created. There is a steep learning curve for this social media thing, so bear with me as I get up to speed. Email is a great way to get my attention if you have a specific scent your are interested in. I'll make it if I can find it!

The Curated Experience

Candle Safety Guidelines

I would like to share some recommendations so you can have the best experience with your new candle from The Curated Wick. I took great care in testing all the candles with different containers, wicks, and fragrances. All the candles I sell have been thoroughly tested and meet the industry standards for safety, but every candle has a limit. So, please read these guidelines to ensure you are using your candles safely.

Always trim the wick to 1/4" before burning it and make sure you dispose of the trimmings.

Never allow a candle to burn for more than 4 consecutive hours. If you allow it to burn longer the glass may get too hot and break.

Always burn your candle on s stable, heat resistance surface in a location free of drafts and flammable materials.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep all burning candles away from children and pets.

Don't move your candle after it has been lit.

You should consider your candle finished when there is 1/2" of wax remaining.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if your candle does not meet your expectations. I would be happy to hear feedback and replace any candle that does not meet your expectations when used correctly.
